Aboriginal Spirituality and Religious Origins

When you study early history, what you often study is how tribes formed and developed in an effort to use their common strengths to evolve and grow. As they grew in numbers, they usually formed a system of rules by which the tribe was to evolve, according to the customs and dictates of the way the tribe had evolved in the past.

The elders of these early tribes were thought to be wise enough to direct the tribe because they had learned from their past experiences what worked and what didn't. They also had some form of spiritual council, usually a shaman or naturalist, who was well versed in the ways of nature and our innate ability to coincide with nature's ways to help us live better lives.

These early tribes respected all members of their community and survived by making sure that everyone had adequate food, shelter, and access to healing remedies. They understood that there was enough for all and by working for the common good, the tribe would survive and grow.

As population increased, a need to travel and trade with other tribes developed as a means to acquire the services and goods tribes could not produce on their own. This exchange expanded the ability of the tribes to experience a variety of worldly things. These early ventures used a barter system that said, We have these things, you have those things, and we can exchange them for our mutual benefit.

As the world population grew, we were able to travel more extensively to satisfy the thirst for things beyond our reach. Accordingly, the barter system had to evolve into a system of exchange that would give value to all items, yielding universal instruments of value that people would accept in exchange. Voila! Money.

The evolution of trade, barter, and money changed people's perceptions of possessions, and what evolved, in the minds of people, was the feeling that there was no longer enough of everything. People could see that some of the material possessions they desired could only be obtained through a concerted effort of accumulating enough money. At the same time, the various forms of governing bodies also experienced the idea that the accumulation of money was not only the best way to provide the services that their society required, but was also an excellent way to provide the trappings of affluence in order to best represent their tribe to the world.

Spiritual counsel evolved into an extension of the government as a way to keep the citizenry under control. The powers that be understood that, without the ability to control the populace under a united belief system, they would not be able to control them at all.

Their traditional belief system was one that aligned with nature and allowed individuals freedom to pursue their own interests under the magnanimous umbrella of the tribe. This system of respect for nature's ways and acknowledging individuality worked great in honoring freedom of autonomy, but it didn't work very well to control people.

To control people they needed to devise a belief system which restricted individual freedom and could be claimed to benefit both the individual and the tribe. Restricting freedom runs counter to the ways of nature as well as the prevailing systems of tribal order. The trick then is to disguise the new paradigm intended to control people by making it look like nature.

The traditional belief system honored nature and held that man was a part of nature and nature was a part of man. Nature provided the means for man to exist and man in turn gave thanks for nature's abundance. Man's natural allegiance is one of communion with that which sustains him. When man is clear on this concept, he is hard to control because he understands that freedom is one of the basic tenets of nature.

To control people you need to make it appear as if you are not a part of nature but separate from it. This would not be easy to do unless you put forth a belief that the masses could interpret as a benefit to them.

Man's love affair with nature was the prevailing paradigm, so those who wished to control the masses knew that love was not the method to be used for change. They needed to devise a method of fear, disguised as love, that would appear to be of benefit to man but would allow those in leadership positions to control the population. Under the rationale of governance, they would also be able to accumulate wealth and dictate tribal policy.

And thus our current belief systems emerged. Not as a way to understand the oneness that we share with God and each other, but as a belief that we are separate from our God-source. If you can get people to believe that they are separate entities on this earth, and have them buy into a system that says, 'you may be rewarded in death by entry into heaven (but only if you follow the rules),' you can then control them.

These rules were the earliest form of religion because the rules were purported to have come from the source of all things (God), and sent to us through the interpreters of these rules (the religious leaders). By allowing the religious leaders to interpret God's rules we surrendered our individual interpretations and subjugated ourselves to somebody else's interpretations. In so doing we gave up the control we possess to believe as we choose, and allowed others to make critical choices for us.

Once the religious leaders convinced enough people that their interpretation of God was the right one, their ability to control the population was complete. We have been at their mercy ever since. The original precept changed from the concept that the source of all was love and that freedom is our nature, to the perception that you had to fear God in order to receive God's love. This fear led us to believe that a controlling God had the ability to restrict our freedom.

The world has been conditioned to believe in this Separation Mentality for over 2000 years of recorded history. It is time to take back our freedom by understanding the immutable truth that we are all one with the source of our existence and this source knows only unconditional love. That is who and what you are. Unconditional love.

You Can Turn Your Life Around in an Instant

Why do some people move from one level of success to the next in life while others seem to be stuck in the same place they were five years ago? Successful people have tapped into a law that not many are either aware of or are willing to apply to their lives. It is the Law of Suggestion, and when used correctly and consistently, it has the power to turn your life around on a dime.

Henry Ford said, 'If you think you can or if you think you can't, you are right!" Jesus, Himself said, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he".

Who you are today and the level of failure or success you have achieved is in direct proportion to who you think you are and what you think you can achieve. You may be stuck right now; stuck in the same old job you hate, stuck in the bitterness of another's betrayal to you, stuck in a body that is 50 pounds overweight; I don't care how stuck you are and for how long you have been stuck, you can walk out of it in the amount of time it takes you to think your next thought. Yes, it's the truth! There is a giant of success within you just waiting to be aroused and awakened by the power of your own suggestion!

Someone once asked this question, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time". You can walk out of your failure in any and every area of your life beginning with your very next thought. You must take captive the stinkin' thinkin' that has been allowed to run unchallenged in your mind. Negativity, self-doubt, procrastination, the lie that tells you, "This is the hand life dealt you and there is really nothing you can do about it, the lie that there are successful people, failures and mediocre people and they are born that way"; Hogwash! You are equipped to be anyone and anything you choose to be! The only difference between the successful and the failure is this, successful people engage themselves in positive self-talk and positive affirmations (both consciously and sub-consciously) daily. They are willing to fight for what they want to be and achieve, to sacrifice the momentary pleasure to live the enduring life they envision for themselves.

Are you ready to walk out of the muck and mire of defeat and failure and into the life you have always dreamed of? Then do it! Do it right now! It all begins with your very next thought. Refuse to think like a failure, replace every negative lie with a positive affirmation and remember this..."It's not what you do, it's what you keep on doing!" It takes 21 days to form any habit in your life, so be ready to fight the good fight of faith against negativity and before you know it, you will have formed a habit that will begin to direct your sub-conscience thoughts step by step right into the life you've always wished for but didn't know you could live. It's sort of like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ, Glenda, told her, "You've always had the power to be where you wanted to be", Dorothy says, "Why didn't anyone tell me it was as simple as clicking my heels three times and SAYING THE RIGHT WORDS?" Because you wouldn't have believed it before now!

The power of the spoken word and the spoken thought may seem too simple to be the answer to your getting un-stuck in life, but sometimes people stumble over the answer only because it seems too simple. We want a magic pill or some kind of epiphany but I'm telling you, at the end of the yellow brick road, you will discover you had the power within you all along!

Funny Motivation Posters Galore!

Many internet denizens have noticed a new phenomenon cropping up on the internet, namely funny motivation posters. These posters, created by various anonymous comedians, feature everything from house cats to hilarious screw-up's caught on camera. They may not motivate, but they do entertain, and as such there has been a rush to create them as various people try to go for the biggest laugh.

What goes into a funny motivation poster?

Though the images in these posters vary, the format is the same. A simple black border, separated by another black border with a white (or other lightly-colored) line, with an image inside and a few large words at the bottom. The large words are always followed by a brief comment to ensure the viewer gets the joke, and this setup mocks more proper (but less entertaining) motivational posters. Such an image is easy to make, and many people have created easily modified images and blank templates to ensure that anyone can quickly and easily make their own.

Can I make a funny motivation poster?

Sure! It's the internet, who'd wanna stop you? Let's say you took a picture of your cat standing atop your mailbox. After cropping it and centering it inside the frame, you might decide that it looks like he's guarding your mailbox. So you put in some big text at the bottom which reads "GUARD CAT" and then include the subtitle "He protects us from bills." There you go, it's that easy and simple.

But it isn't motivational at all!

Most of these posters aren't. In fact, some are decidedly depressing, or thick with dark humor, and are even referred to as "Anti-Motivation Posters." The phenomenon of funny motivational posters (known as a "meme" in internet jargon) extends well beyond the bounds of merely providing motivation. Many times they are used to succinctly make a point, comment on a picture, or otherwise entertain. Sometimes they even comment on other motivational posters! While the earliest ones kept with a motivational theme, that has long since been discarded in favor of pure humor, and now it's rare to find a poster that has anything to do with motivation.

Then why are they still called "funny motivation posters"?

The meme started with a motivational format, and the name has stuck even if the name has not. The fact is, they are still meant to appear similar to motivational posters found and ignored in offices around the world, and as such they are quietly poking fun at the idea that a poster could make a place more fun to work at. Many still work as motivational posters, non-standard as they are, and many people who are big fans of this meme have printed them out to post on the cubicle walls.

Is this legal?

Provided that the image used in the poster has an open copyright or is one you made yourself, it's fine. So come on in and join the fun, and see what others have made, and maybe even make a poster or two yourself?

What The Bleep Do You Know

The Hidden Meaning to Life and Death and Our Spiritual Connection With God, Bliss, and Eternity

We have been born into the human form. We are souled bodies, and our soul is of God, the very essence of God. God has created so many living creatures, but it is only in the human form that we can achieve the purpose of life to know our selves and to know God.

Unfortunately, we have forgot that we are souls, and have become so attached to our physical body that we believe we are nothing but the body itself. God himself is living in this body, but strange as it may seem, we neither seeGod nor talk to God. Although God is so close to us, there is a duality. It is just like a husband and a wife living in the same house but never talking to each other, never seeing each others faces. If the soul and God are in the same body, how can they meet? What caused this separation, this severance from our source, which has caused us, in spite of transitory moments of happiness, such inner distress and isolation?

The answers to these questions are not readily found in books. however elevating and comprehensive they may be. The whole mystery of life and death can only be explained to us by an enlightened being who has resolved the mystery himself. We may call him by many names, a Saint, a Prophet, a Guru, a Master, or a Guide.Such a one became self realized by solving the mystery of life and death and attaining communion with the Almighty. He is in communion with the God Power which is lying dormant in all of us. He has lost his ego and has become one with God.

God himself incarnates as man to help souls which which have been separated from him for countless ages and which are now yearning for his communion, longing to become one with him again.God works in the form of an awakened being to bring dormant souls to life. He must come in the human form, because just as light comes from light, the teacher of man is man. Man is the pinnacle of Gods creation. In no other form can the soul have communion with the creator.I t is said in the scriptures that God made man after his own image. He is next to God. The Muslim scriptures tell us that when man was made,God ordered the angels obedience to man. The human form is therefore considered to be higher than angels. If the angels want salvation, they are forced to take birth ina mans body. This is the reason why all saints, prophets, and seers have stressed the importance of birth in the human form. Only in this form are we able to understand something of the glory of the Creator. To meet him and merge back into Him.This is why we have been born as a man. We need to go back to the source of all peace, light and bliss. This should be our only aim in life.

Atman is a child of God, who is known for his great insight into religion. He has a knack for teaching through quotes and short stories,he is considered an expert writer. He claims that God is his mentor, because he dared to knock on God's door.

Spiritual Healing - Creating a Healing Ritual Using Cedarwood Essential Oil

There is a very interesting Biblical account in the book of Leviticus where the priest ritually placed cedarwood oil on the right ear lobe, right thumb and right first toe of the one to be cleansed of their leprosy. This healing ritual according to Leviticus was meant to restore the person who had any sort of skin disease back to the community. When you study the reflex points on the body you find that pressing the ear lobe is a point to release guilt whereas the right thumb and great toe are reflex points for the pituitary and pineal glands in the brain. The pituitary gland is the Master Gland of the body sending out chemical messengers to every cell in the body. The pineal gland produces melatonin which is a hormone helpful for sleep and periods of darkness. Studies are being conducted on this hormone for its role in reproduction, sleep, and aging.

The pineal gland is also linked to your creativity. When the pineal is not open, negative emotions get attracted to your aura. Oils that contain sesquiterpenes (a terpene component of many essential oils considered to be the wisdom molecule) are especially effective in oxygenating the brain especially the pineal and pituitary glands. In Biblical times, they would have used Cedarwood essential oil to restore the leprous person to the community. Cedarwood is naturally high in sesquiterpenes, in fact, it is 98% sesquiterpenes. What is so interesting is that cedarwood was quite plentiful in ancient times, that is, until Solomon cut down the cedars of Lebanon to build his temple and palace.

One Ritual You Can Use to Restore Balance in Your Life Using Cedarwood Essential Oil

  • Come into a centered place by breathing slowly and deeply. Allow the divine breath to release any tension in your shoulders, neck, back, and legs.
  • Now place a few drops of cedarwood oil in your left palm as you continue your slow rhythmic breathing.
  • Dip your right thumb and index finger into the oil in your left palm and rub your right ear lobe between your thumb and index finger, clearing your heart and letting go any guilt you may be carrying. Pray softly:
  • Heavenly Creator release all that holds me in bondage. I let go any guilt that I may be carrying for things that I have committed or things I have failed to do that I should have done.
  • Next, rub your right thumb and index finger together as you connect with the pineal gland in the brain. Visualize this gland as a small area deep in the center of your brain. Now breathe deeply the fragrance of cedarwood and allow the healing properties of this grounding oil to penetrate to the pineal and pituitary glands. Allow yourself to open to your own creativity. Pray softly:
  • Heavenly Creator, restore me to wholeness and connect me to my creative self.
  • Again dip your right thumb and fore finger into the oil in your left palm and rub some of the oil on your right great toe. Continue to connect with the pineal gland in the brain. Breathe deeply the fragrance of cedarwood letting go of any negative emotions within your energy field. Pray softly:
  • Heavenly Creator fill me with your light and love, restore me to wholeness within and return me to my community fully healed.

7 Important Facts You Should Know About ADHD in Children

ADHD in children is a lot more prevalent than most people think. In fact, recent statistics say that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder affects nearly 14% of school age children. Yet, there is no widespread awareness among people regarding this issue. In this article, you will learn some important information about attention deficit in children.

  1. First and foremost, you should know the symptoms of ADHD disorder in children. Children who are affected by this disorder tend to be fidgety. The common symptoms include socially inappropriate behavior, restlessness, hyperactivity, inability to focus, and impulsiveness.
  2. If you notice these symptoms in your child, do not panic. Watch your child closely over a period of time. Every child can be a little fidgety or hyperactive from time to time. So, observe your child's activities very closely for some time before you arrive at a conclusion.
  3. Once you are sure that your child has some of the symptoms of ADHD in children, make a list of your child's behavioral patterns. Yes - write it down. It is very, very important. When you take your child to a doctor regarding this issue, you should be in a position to give him as much information as possible about your child's behavior. If possible, take notes from your child's teacher along with you. As someone who spends a lot of time with your child, the teacher might have observed some behaviors as well. The more you share with the doctor, the easier it will be for him to get a conclusive diagnosis.
  4. If the doctor confirms that your child has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, do not lose hope. Remember - it is just a disorder, not a life-threatening disease. With the right kind of treatment, your child can lead a normal life.
  5. The ideal treatment method for ADHD in children includes the right medications or nutritional supplements, counseling, behavior therapies - in that order. In fact, choosing the right treatment for your child can make a huge difference in the long term.
  6. Do not give psychostimulant drugs to your child. These drugs, although effective for some kids, can cause side effects, some of which are quite dangerous. Also, they suppress the symptoms, which can only give temporary relief. Instead, try homeopathic medications which can improve your child's brain functioning, reduce mood swings, and promote normal energy levels. These medications are perfectly safe and have no side effects or worries about drug interactions. There is also no chance of an allergic reaction. Natural remedies will actually heal your child's brain with continued use over time and makes an excellent treatment for ADHD in children. Look for a supplement that contains proven ingredients like arsen iod and tuberculinum.
  7. Probably the most important thing you should know as a parent is this - the effect of ADHD disorder in children can be reduced drastically by caring and loving them. Focus your attention on them, give them the right supplements, and make sure to give them a healthy diet. This will make a huge difference in your child's life.

As a parent, it's important to learn as much as possible about ADHD in children so you can make informed decisions and give your child the best possible care.

Think Positively to Change Your Life

These days it can be really difficult to think positively. It seems like every day there is more bad news about the economy, and no one really knows when a change is going to come or when the bad times are going to end, or even how bad it's going to get before things turn around.

At a time like this it is really easy to get caught up in a cycle of negative thinking. It does seems like nothing is going right, so you think negative thoughts and fill your mind with worry about the next bad thing that is going to happen; whether you are going to be able to keep paying your bills or even if you will still have a job next year.

All that negativity is not much fun, for one thing. It is impossible to be very happy about things if you are filling your mind with worry, doom and gloom. It is also hard to see the good things that are already in your life if you are worrying about those things fading away.

And the truth is the more you think negatively, the more negative effects you are going to see in your life. You might find that after a day of negativity you are actually feeling physically sick like you have a cold coming on. This is not your imagination, it is a real physical manifestation of your negative thoughts, and a clear example of how you are able to influence what happens to you through your thoughts and feelings.

On the flip side you can also influence what happens to you in a positive way, through positive thinking and feelings. Focusing on the good that is already in your life and thinking about the greater good that will come to you in the future, the goals you want to achieve and the things you want to have, will make more good things come into your life.

The key is to focus on what it is that you want in your life, not what you do not want. Clearly you all want security, peace and stability in your lives, your jobs and your families, but all too often you think about what would happen if those things were taken away from you. You dwell on lost jobs, illness and divorce, and those negative thoughts and feelings just bring more negative energy into your lives.

If you want to feel more positive, think more positive thoughts. If you want more goodness in your life, think about the good things you have and how you would like your life to be. Imagine a life that is calm, a secure job that provides all the money you need and a family that is happy and loving, and that is what you will have.

Positive thinking is not just a way to make you feel better in hard times (though it will do that). It's a concrete thing that you can do to turn your life around, no matter how crazily things are swirling around you.

Yoga Height Increase Exercise Scams - My Story

There are numerous websites offering Yoga height Increase exercise courses at several hundred dollars -They promise to add on several inches to your height in a matter of days with as little as 5 minutes a daily exercise. I have gone through a number of these products, as a 5'4 male my stature has always been the Achilles Heel of my self esteem. Many of these programs were not only ineffective but dangerous as well -These so called Yoga Height Increase Exercises consisted of various stretches that could cause muscle tear or at the very least, strain.

Following my disappointment with these products, I would request a refund from the sellers under their 100% refund guarantee policy. After several days of waiting and having received no reply from these scam artists, I would find that their web page had been taken down and there was no trace of them or their product left.

I read of similar experiences from people like me on related forums and yahoo answers and it became clear that there was a wide group of salesmen trying to scam the likes of us of several hundred dollars of our money. I wasn't going to let these negative experiences stop me however from finding a solution to my height problem. I began thoroughly researching every product I found online before proceeding with a purchase and I advise all my readers to do the same. You must do your homework before buying any of these grow taller products online if you are going to avoid being scammed like so many of us are.

After months of research I was able to find a seller who was open to answering questions and reservations I may have had regarding his product and was transparent during the entire exchange process-including helping me with the program even after the purchase had been made. The product consists of exercises, diets and other elements that are not only comprehensive and effective but were also compiled with safety in mind.

3 Months later, I am very satisfied with the results and the pleasant, smooth transaction, and I do wholeheartedly recommend Dr Darwin Smith', Grow Taller 4 Idiots program to anyone else out there suffering from low self esteem because of their height. I do strongly encourage everyone to follow through with their own research before buying any product online, because I learned the importance of that lesson the hard way -and you should not have to.

Being Good at Hockey Builds Self-esteem - Be Aware of Your Delivery

A child's mind is malleable.

If you tell a child she's a loser, she'll grow up believing it. If your junior hockey team loses a game, a child's mind might translate that into "I'm a loser."

As a junior hockey coach, it's very important to frame these losses in perspective and focus on what everyone did well, and what the opportunities are for improving.

Children with poor hockey skills (and we know who they are) may believe they have less control over important social outcomes-in this case, being a part of the team. Kids who believe they have less control in their lives can run into mental health issues derived from low self-esteem and loss of control over important outcomes in their own lives.

One of the main ways children get others to like them in a junior hockey team environment is by being good at hockey. When a child isn't good at hockey-and lets face it, there is a huge variation in abilities at the junior hockey league levels, they deserve affirmation and positive re-enforcement for things they are doing well, such as trying hard; working hard; hustling to get the puck; doing a great job or 'good skating.' These comments need to be relative to them, not to others. As a hockey player, you know very well there are different ways to contribute in a team environment. Sometimes you have to search a little more diligently for the good in something, but it's always there if you look and finding it makes a difference.

In a communication there exists The Message and The Delivery. The message is what was said and the delivery is how you said it. This distinction is critical because people will remember the exchange for how you made them feel, not what you said--so in other words people focus on and attach meaning to The Delivery. So make a point and get down on their level--so on your knee, look them right in their eyes and tell them they're doing a good job. Miracle Story With Michael

Does Your Past Determine Your Future?

The question begs an answer from several schools of thought. The past has always been thought by psychologists as the foundations of the person that we are today. The past consists of our childhood, our most tender years when we absorb the most information and we use that data to shape our characters, our personalities and our identities. It is something we cannot escape - it is built into our D.N.A, the very building blocks of the human spirit. Freud himself said that in our minds, we are still very much the children we were so many years ago. Whatever aspect of our behaviour, how we behave in situations are all linked to what we were exposed to when we were growing up.

This is because of the power of the conscious and subconscious mind. The conscious mind acts as a filter, but when we are just children, its powers and cognitive functions are somewhat limited - its defenses are drawn in because the body understands that this is the time of learning, where our mental and emotional faculties receive instruction from the outside world and are shaped to build the foundations for our adult selves. This is the 'past' that the article is alluding to. When we are in that stage of our lives, every sensory experience and every instruction stays within us because they are imprinted into the subconscious mind as memory. This is where fears are built in.

For example, if an adult man has a fear of water, it is always traced back to the time when they are children - when a specific trauma happened either in a single accident or over time in which they associated with water. It is that much harder to instill the same kind of psychological fear when someone is an adult and the defenses of the conscious mind are at maximum. The body is past the stage of emotional and psychological learning and has decided what kind of person you are. This is the same for all fears; arachnophobia, vertigo and claustrophobia. The mind takes instruction very well. If we were regressed to have little or no ambition, or to have a fear of failure so tangible that it places hurdles in our life - then that is the person that we will be.

Our personalities, our attitudes, our behaviours - have all been set in the past. So how do you change it? No matter how powerful the past can be to shape you, it does not have the final say in shaping your life and your future. Science has stepped in and allowed us access to the subconscious mind - to turn around the years of regression, to put in positive messages and other sensory simulations that can reverse our past and change our futures for good. We are not the unbreakable silhouettes of our failures - even the hardest shapes and set minds can be changed - with a little help from science and positive affirmation. The past determines who you are - but what you do determines your future.

Building a Green Home - Six Ways to Save Energy (and Money)

There are many areas where you can experience significant energy savings when you are building a green home.By working with an architect in the early design stages, many of these areas can be addressed in the design of your energy efficient home, helping you to save money in the future and enjoy a healthier home:

1)Footprint:Reduce the size of your home.Your home design should be limited to only as much space as your family needs. This will keep your energy usage to a minimum right from the start.

2) Windows:Windows are a break in the thermal insulating barrier of your home. The higher quality window you choose the better performance the entire home will achieve.

3)Insulation:Even if you do nothing else, by choosing a superior building envelope for your home like structural insulated panels (SIPs panels) and/or an insulated concrete form foundation system (ICF), you will enjoy huge savings in heating and cooling your home (up to 50%-60% over a home without SIPs).

4) Passive solar design:By incorporating sunlight for lighting and heat and natural ventilation into the basic home design, you can reduce the size of mechanical systems and lighting in the home.

5) Heating system:Consider a renewable energy system to heat and cool the space and tap water in your home (solar, wind, geothermal).

6) Ventilation:Incorporate an air-to-air exchanger, or heat recovery ventilator (HRV) system into your home. This will replace stale air with fresh outdoor air while maintaining the temperature inside the home and conserving energy.

There are many other areas of the home that can be addressed to increase energy efficiency and save money over the life of your home. In the beginning stages of the home design, your green architect will discuss your opportunities to save money while providing a healthy environment for your family.

Overcoming Difficulties Talking

Friendship - It is the Key to Happiness

Human beings are basically gregarious by nature. They are constantly in search for varied facets of 'friendship' like warmth, understanding, companionship, empathy and sympathy. It is a pity that very often, in their relentless search for it, they fail and that is the tragedy of life. I truly wonder how many of my readers can sincerely claim to have friends, who would genuinely cater to the above-mentioned needs.

Of course, most of you would instantly chuckle "I have several good friends." To this I have no qualms, no wish to dispute on that score. No doubt, you have persons in your social circle, who are 'good' enough to spend time with, chatting about your husband, your home, your children or perhaps even your latest clothes or hair-do! No doubt, you even have several good friends to go to movies, picnics and parties with.

Now tell me honestly, how many of these so-called friends would come to seek you in your hour of need, who would run to you as fast when you have an empty pocket as when you were a social magnate; who would love you for what you really are and not in accordance to what you could do for them? If you are indeed lucky to have even a couple of such genuine friends, then my sincere advice to you is to hold fast to such friends. I mean treasure them, and see to it that you make yourself truly deserve such friends, for your life will be richer for having gained their friendship and your world poorer, for having lost it.

A psychologist once asked a group of college students to jot down in thirty seconds the initials of the people they disliked. Very few could think of only one or two people. A large majority of participants listed as many as twelve to fifteen. The interesting fact that came out of this random survey was that those who disliked the largest number were themselves the most widely disliked. Thus it can be rightly conceded that the law of life is "'What you give, you get - for it is in giving that we receive." and this is especially true of friendship.

Friendship is ultimately the key to happiness which in turn implies that true and lasting happiness depends to a large extent on the company we keep, and our "real" friends whom we hold close to our hearts. If we contend to agree that our happiness is dependent on the happiness of those we love, then it is natural that we seek not what our friend can do for us but rather, what we can and most importantly want to do for our friend. Those of you who feel deprived of "true friendship", my plea is to search your mind and hearts and find out honestly if you have paused once to realize what sort of friend are you. In short, are you yourself, a true or "real" friend?

I will end on the following quotation: "A true friend may well be reckoned a masterpiece of Nature." Ralph Waldo Emerson {U.S. Poet & Essayist

Five Ways to Wake Up Happy and Get Through the Day

Happiness is your birthright, and if you begin the day in a happy state of mind, you are better able to get through the day in a good frame of mind. Use these steps ways to start your day on the right foot.

Step 1: Tomorrow morning's happiness begins with tonight. As you are falling asleep, give yourself the suggestion that you will have a restful night's sleep and wake refreshed in the morning. Be specific about what time you wish to awaken. Doing so will help you awaken in a peaceful state before the alarm sounds. A good night's sleep is crucial to happiness. When we are tired, our problems always feel bigger and seem harder to handle.

Step 2: Before you are fully awake, greet yourself. Silently say, "Good morning, (add your name)." Give yourself positive suggestions, such as, "It's a beautiful day!" or "Wow! What a day this is going to be." Even if you wake dreading the day, give yourself these positive suggestions before your feet hit the floor.

Step 3: Every watch a cat or dog when they first wake. They don't jump right up, but instead they stretch. Do the same, and as you stretch, thank your body for its vitality, strength, and wellness. Thanking your body is important even if you are in pain or ill. You are still alive and your body is functioning. The more you thank your body, the better you are going to feel.

Step 4: Set an intention and goals for the day. Your intention might be to be happy. Set goals that help you reach that intention. Having a plan for what you want to accomplish will make you feel better. Do not over stretch and overwhelm yourself. Instead set realistic goals regardless how small they may be. After being seriously injured in a motorcycle accident, my intention was to heal. Everyday I set a new goal, starting with simply being able to get out of the hospital bed. I progressed to setting the goal of being able to move about and use my body in spite of eight broken bones. The next goal was to get out of the wheelchair and walk again, and eventually to be able to return home. Each goal met brought me happiness. Setting an intention to be happy and setting realistic goals and meeting them will bring you happiness.

Step 5: Have a song. You can sing your song as your positive thought in the morning as you rise from bed, in the shower, or anytime during the day. My song includes the words, "zippy do da." What song you choose doesn't matter as long as it's upbeat and makes you smile. Repeat your song at any time during the day when you feel stressed or feel yourself getting depressed.

These steps may sound simple-and they are-but they produce big results if you practice them on a regular basis. We all have days when we would rather stay cozy under the covers, but that does not serve our lives. We all have worries, losses we grieve, illnesses we must content with, but even in our darkest hours, we can find joy if we allow ourselves to, and if we exchange the beliefs of sadness for those of happiness.

7 Ways To Eliminate Self-Help Programs That Won't Work for You!

Does your head start to buzz and your eyes start to cross every time you find yourself confronted with another self-help program? I don't blame you. So many people are on the self-help bandwagon that it has become too difficult and too time-consuming to separate the wheat from the chaff. Consequently, in the interest of sanity, you miss a lot of valuable resources because you toss everything into the trash.

Is there a solution? Yes, there is.

Every industry is full of those who talk in the abstract; that is, they don't really have a practical knowledge of what they're selling. Internet Marketing is a prime example. In my forays into this particular world in an attempt to educate myself, I encountered so many people who were only in it for the money. I can't tell you how many times I have signed up somewhere just to get a glimpse of what they offered only to discover that their sales pitch had more information in it than their product. After a few months of this, I was completely burned out! I began a daily ritual of hitting the trash button every time I saw an email from some affiliate or internet marketer.

Is this the kind of experience you've been having with self-help books and programs? Have you tossed the baby out with the bath water rather than spend any more time trying to sort through the mass of products out there? If it is, let me share some ideas with you about what I consider the qualities of self-help programs that can make a difference.

A VALUED RESOURCE:

1. Always presents information in a way that it has value for those who are seeking understanding but who have no background in the field AND it also has value for those who have been involved in the field for a while.
"For those who have eyes to see and ears to hear" This phrase means that I see and hear different things depending on where I am on my journey. If I read a particular book five years ago and thought it was great, but today my interpretation of the material is vastly different, I am in possession of a valued resource. If I am able to see deeper layers to the work as I grow, it is indeed a valued resource!

2. Discusses things in a practical way. In other words, it relates the information to situations that are common to a lot of people so that I can identify with it.
If the body of a book or program is filled with grandiose examples or the writer/teacher spends most of the time citing cases of those who have been successful with their program, this is not useful information. Someone else's success is not my success. Their issues and their background are not necessarily the same as mine.
A valued resource gives me the "facts." It provides all the information I need to make decisions for myself so th5B4at I can address the beliefs and attitudes that are dominant in me.

3. Does not use "catch phrases" with no attempt at explaining their significance.
For example, the word "sin" has many connotations depending on the nature of a person's belief system. If I am to understand what they're saying, then I need to know how they define their terms. Do they define sin as a black mark on me or as a signal that I am off my path of well-being?

4. Never tries to convince me that my success is just a matter of "doing" certain things.
Doing things in the outer world, like making lists or following a particular regimen, is only one part of the process that effects permanent change in my life. I have to be willing to examine my thoughts and my feelings as well as my actions. You run across some systems that focus almost exclusively on emulating successful people. Nothing wrong with that, unless I never look at myself because I'm always looking at the focus of my attention. When that happens, my success, if it happens, is something I've forced into existence. It is not something that I have developed the consciousness for. In other words, something that grew out of my understanding. Consequently, it is on a shaky foundation.

5. Encourages me to think for myself.
Any self-help program that discourages me from thinking for myself, that is, tweaking what I've learned 5B4to understand myself is suspect. Growth is all about thinking creatively, and I can't very well do that if I take on the role of parrot!

6. Never promotes itself as the only source of information for my personal growth.
If a self-help program or teacher expects me to accept only what they teach, their teachings are contrary to the underlying principal of personal growth. The underlying principal of personal growth is about my being creativetaking information I receive and embracing it, molding it until it takes me to a new level of experience. To do this, I must be free to explore all ideas that seem pertinent to me. I may choose to explore all the teachings of a particular source because they resonate with me. That's okay because it is my choice.

7. Never assures me that my life will do a complete turn-around overnight.
Sure, my life is about change, but it is life-long change. It took a long time for me to develop the attitudes or beliefs that I currently hold. Most have become unconscious ways of looking at my life. Do you seriously think this is going to change overnight? Of course, I may be able to force a particular change near term, but the moment I take my attention from it, it will revert to the path of least resistance. So, even though I may have some new experiences right off, it is superficial. Real change comes from working on the underlying causes of my experie5B4nces, and that's a 24/7 job. There are no quick fixes for my life or yours! Anyone who tells me that they can permanently transform my entire life in a few quick and easy steps is totally ignoring 1) the work involved in change and 2) that my life is a journey of change through refinement.

Just as change takes time, so does making decisions about where to invest your energy in terms of your personal growth. Don't get discouraged or in too big of a hurry. Read about the people presenting the information. Make sure their desire is weighted toward wanting to help you rather than making money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with anyone making a living by helping other people. The difference lies in whether the money is a by-product of helping or the money is their primary motive for presenting the information. Of course, this is not so easy to determine sometimes. If they have a web site, check out their about us page. Google them. If they have podcasts or blogs, go there and check them out. Through all of this, you can get a feeling for the person(s). Trust your instincts!

One Stroke at a Time

"One stroke at a time." In an interview, Tiger Woods shared this simple formula for success. He further revealed that his habit to focus on the task at hand and not the previous stroke nor the next stroke keeps him self-disciplined. Tigers recent 4th win of the Masters and being the first golfer to achieve this accomplishment before the age of 30 reaffirms his personal success formula.

The Tiger Woods One stroke at a time is a brilliant example of short-term goal setting and more importantly goal accomplishment. Each stroke is a short-term goal. The obstacles are viewed from hazards to weather conditions. Solutions appear to be instantaneously created with action steps quickly following. With the completion of each short-term goal, Tiger Woods is that much closer to completing the long-term goal of completing and hopefully winning the game. Each completed game then reverts to a short term goal allowing him to work towards his long term goal or dream of being the very best in the game of golf ~ past, present and future.

Goal setting is a behavior that when used consistently and correctly guarantees success 98% of the time. The problem is that many individuals look to long term goals and do not include supporting short-term goals. Short-terms goals, one stroke at a time, are the foundation for the successful completion of long-term goals.

Tiger Woods positive attitude about the past and the future also greatly contribute to his ability to achieve his goals. Attitudes are really habits of thought. Tigers habit of thought by focusing on the present allows him to stay self-disciplined and self-directed thereby accomplishing both short and long-term goals.

With over 20 years of practice, Tiger has mastered the physical skill of golf and has developed extensive knowledge about this sport through years of application. His skill level supports his positive attitudes and goal setting behavior. Finally, Tiger Woods also revealed that even though becoming the best golfer the world has ever seen is his long-term goal, he realizes that his life must have balance. We can see and hear of this balance when Tiger talks about family and friends.

Smart Goal Setting To Achieve Success

In order to effectively achieve your goals in a timely manner, individuals must undergo strategic planning and personal goal setting in order to establish clear agendas. While there are many different ways to approach such a life-changing path towards success, there is a helpful technique to consider that provides an easy-to-follow tool of motivation known as setting SMART goals.

The concept of SMART goals is based upon specific steps used to encourage one to reach their potential beyond what they believe is attainable. One of the most important aspects of SMART goals is to set a deadline, which helps keep individuals moving towards accomplishing their business dreams and expectations. Without a deadline, goals face the threat of staying stagnant, but when setting a targeted date for success, motivation becomes stronger.

When you are interested in using SMART goals to achieve success, you should become familiar with the different components that make up this helpful goal-setting plan. Establishing SMART goals means that one approaches their objective in life or business in a (S)pecific, (M)easurable, (A)ttainable, (R)ealistic, and (T)angible manner.

One of the significant aspects of goal setting includes establishing specific goals, which may involve daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly targets. It is a proven fact that those who set goals in life achieve much more than those who do not (no matter how frequent they are set). These goals should be measurable, as this helps one gauge how easy it would be to achieve such desires. When goals are vaguely set, it is hard to measure how long it will take to accomplish such objectives.

Setting attainable goals usually involves the things in life and business that are most important, which encourages you to reach them quicker and more easily. This is because when something is significant to your happiness and success in life, you are much more apt to find a way towards achievement.

Naturally, you will seek out the steps that fit into your goals and with a positive attitude as your driving force you slowly (or steadily) work on using your knowledge to develop the skills that enable you to succeed.

Some obstacles, such as financial capability, often comes into play, yet motivated individuals have a knack for discovering new and improved ways on accomplishing the things they want out of life.

The key to successfully reaching goals is to plan the steps needed to reach positive results. A set timeframe also serves as a powerful motivating tool and plays a key role in setting SMART goals.

Setting realistic goals is also an important part of the SMART goal setting process, as it is quite hard to reach something that is far too out of attainability.

When setting goals, they should remain within the realm of possibility. An example of an unrealistic goal is to plan on climbing the highest peak in the world when you are physically unable to achieve this type of objective. This may include an issue with having seizures when reaching high altitudes.

Despite the advancements in technology (Internet, email, medicine, science), some goals are simply impossible. These types of goals should be avoided, as realistic goals will only reap satisfaction when achieved.

A tangible goal is one that is recognized by at least one of your five senses. This means that if you are able to taste, touch, hear, see, or smell a specific goal, it is something tangible. For those who are able to incorporate a tangible goal with one that is intangible, they face a better chance of pinpointing the things that makes an objective more specific and measurable. In the end, you will encounter something that is much more attainable in the long run.

SMART Goal Setting Tips

In order to get you on the right track for setting SMART goals, consider implementing some of the following tips to make your journey towards success much easier:

1. Being specific with your goal setting is seen through the strong statements you make about your objectives. An example of setting a challenging, yet motivating goal is to exclaim, "I will move to California by the end of the year to pursue acting," instead of "I want to be in a movie."

2. Phrasing your SMART goals in the present tense helps pull you closer towards achieving success. Get out of the habit of saying "I want to" and start saying, "I will." This will help you approach your objectives in a manner that is more susceptible to accomplishment.

3. Writing down your SMART goals is a great way to clarify your objectives and create a better visualization of the outcome. Some individuals will jot down each goal on a separate index card, which they then review on a daily basis. This serves as a motivating reminder.

4. When you list the benefits you expect to receive out of achieving a SMART goal, this helps to keep you steadfast in your intentions; increases focus; and makes obstacles much easier to overcome. For instance, a person listing the benefits for losing weight may review the positive aspects when they feel a weakness to binge on sweets. The more advantages you are able to come up with the more motivating the goals will become.

It Just Makes Life A Little Brighter

Just eight letters can mean so much. What eight letters am I talking about U I O E V Y O L, now you say that doesnt make any sense, so lets move them around a little, I Love You. Three little words that can mean so much, and at the same time are often said without much thought. To some it can only be related to the physical act of love.

In todays culture a lot of what is called love is just the physical act. This is not love it is merely physical, but is often confused with the emotion of love. The truth is that true love is emotion pure and simple. Does that mean love cant be physical, absolutely not the physical part of it can be the completion of love. That is the way it should be, the physical act should be a fulfillment of love, not an end unto itself.

We have the other form of love such as a mothers love for her child and visa versa. This love is a bond that lasts forever. Im in my sixties and yet my mom still worries about her little boy. This feeling goes both ways, yet Im sure a mothers love is stronger than that of her siblings.

Sometimes the person saying, I love you is doing so just because they know thats what the other wants to hear. In that case a disservice has been done and it really affects both. The one who says it knows he/she isnt being honest and the one hearing it has a false hope. In the end they both lose.

Maybe if we applied a honest look at the world we would discover the main reason for all the turmoil is because we as humans have forgotten how to love. A lot of our actions bear this out, we have road rage, warfare, politics and a thousand other things that we get caught up in and its always the same. We have to win. Well when its all said and done, just what have we won. Its been said that he who dies with the most toys wins. What does he win hes still dead? Maybe someone who doesnt have many toys but lives longer with a partner that he loves, and who loves him is really the winner. It would appear to me that all the toys in the world arent going to bring much real happiness if there is no love. Now if you love what you are doing and also make a lot of money at it that would be one thing. If youre just doing it for the money then your goal is just material things. To some people material things are everything, but what happens when you either get everything or you cant get something you think you want. There is always that person who is right behind you out to get more than you have, so the race is on and never finished.

I have known many wealthy people and some enjoy life, but so many are so busy making sure that nobody is getting ahead of them or out doing them that they never take any real time out to smell the roses. They also have a tendency to only associate with people who can benefit them in business or is in the proper group. They couldnt even imagine having a friend just because they liked him. I guess in some ways you cant blame them because they have to be cautious because someone is always trying to use them also.

Now having put those on the tables so to speak, how about the real emotion of love.

The American Heritage dictionary has many explanations for it. Among them are:

1. To have a deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward (a person).
2. To have a feeling of intense desire and attraction toward (a person).
3. To have an intense emotional attachment to.

All of these listed are the emotion of love. If you really love someone and tell him or her so, and if you hear the same back from them, admit it you heart skips a beat. Your outlook on life just got a little brighter. Those three little words, eight letters, can make your whole day. Without love we just exist. Some say money makes the world go round, but it wouldnt be much of a world without love.

I think I prefer a life of unconditional love, with someone who loves me the same way. To me that makes the love for material things pale by comparison. Maybe you just have to reach a point in life where you decide that material things really dont matter. As long as you have a place to sleep and food to eat, and someone to love that is the real meaning of life. As long as you can say and mean it with all your heart I Love You then you have the essence of life. This of course is just one mans opinion.

Christianity As the World Changes

Most people seem to go through life doing what others do and never seem to question much about whether the people around them are actually right or wrong. How many of us do exactly what our parents, grandparents and great grandparents do? I was raised a Christian by Christians and they were raised Christians by other Christians and so on. I don't know when or who in my family tree actually decided to become part of the Christian faith. I don't think it really matters today.

Someone had to of made the decision and I will probably never know. I do know this, I have followed Christianity as far as I possibly could and the next step in my life is going to be based somehow on a more spiritually universal world. I can't seem to follow something, that doesn't make sense to me, anymore. Christianity is more or less a religion that people throughout history have made adjustments to, whenever they felt necessary.

This is often like changing a tire on a car as it starts to wear or goes flat. In order for the car to operate and run smoothly we will need to pay a little attention to it, this will require maintenance over time as the car begins to have problems. We have to solve these problems or our car will become useless and will need to be sent to the junkyard.

Religions throughout history have done the same, as the people become more intelligent and less dependent, they need to create new things and make adjustments. If they don't make these adjustments over time, the religion will no longer be necessary and be sent to the junk heap of time. This is what happened to the Greek and Roman gods, what makes you think, that your God or gods will stand the test of time.

Do you think there's going to be any more adjustments to Christianity in the future? It seems like the last adjustments were Scientology and the Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. These religions don't exactly follow what Paul started in the Roman Catholic Church. What will the next adjustment be and why will it be necessary?

If you choose to follow Christianity, how do you know which church is right, I mean their core beliefs are right, aren't they. To love your neighbor and be compassionate. To show kindness towards others and help the needy. Do you think that we're going to have to adjust this one day and start treating certain religious followers, whose skin color is deference or speaks a different language with cruelty. I wonder what the next adjustment in Christianity is going to be.

Great Video For Opening Your Christian Minds

I was reading a book on advertising when the author mentioned, "All Advertising Is about Hope."

This got me thinking about other people's dreams and aspirations, most of this is wrapped around them hoping to accomplish something or do something. I never gave it much thought but hope is one of the most important things in our lives. Some people go around hoping that they will keep their job, when the economy is in bad shape. Others go around hoping for forgiveness for their sins or other bad deeds they have done in the past.

What is it you're hoping for? There's got to be something. Are you hoping to become a multimillionaire or even the world's first trillionaire. Are your dreams big or small? Are you the kind of person who is happy living a simple life with very little possessions like a Buddhist monk or are you one who is seeking the lifestyle of the King.

Hope supplies us with the will to continue through hopeless obstacles during our lifetime.

Most people seeking hope are looking for a way out of something or a way toward a better life. These people often fall easy prey to large religious organizations, as they take them under their wing and slowly start to brainwash them. They seek the weak minded, helpless, poor and trusting people and build their organizations using them. I once believed in Christianity, but it no longer offers me true hope, the more I study Christianity and other organized religions, I noticed certain similarities based on inspiration.

I hope I live the good life, so I can go to heaven, the promised land, our ultimate enlightenment.

I hope I am living the true will according to God, Buddha, Krishna or other supreme beings.

I hope that the Bible is wrong about the 144,000 people from the 12 tribes.

I hope I'm living a life that is pleasing to the Lord.

If you're part of an organized religion, ask your religious leaders, any questions that you have about your religion. If they can't answer these questions, try to find them on your own. Books, videos, and the Internet are great sources for information. If you're living your life for the sole purpose of going to heaven one day, you could be disappointed, when that day arrives.

Ask a couple of questions and I hope you will get honest answers to them.
